For the next three weeks Stalybridge rail station is being transformed into a community hub.

Platforms for All Group PhotoThis is as part of Transport for Greater Manchester’s Platforms For All project, and Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind are excited to be a part of it!

We will be at the station between the 9th and 15th December with an array of fun activities for you get involved with. Platforms For All is part of Action Stations, a TfGM project that transforms the city-region’s stations into community hubs by connecting them to social enterprises.

The brand new community room at the station will be used for a range of free activities for the benefit of passengers and the local communities. Events across December include art exhibitions and classes, community gym classes, mental health awareness sessions, debt advice workshops, and Christmas stalls.

You can check our event here to see our timetable of exciting events and activities that we’ve got coming up! From reflexology sessions all the way through to craft activities and even badge-making. You will be able to pick up absolutely loads of information about the services we offer and what you can access in your local community.

TfGM believes this innovative partnership-based project will enhance the stations, stimulate the local pride, and create a sense of community ownership.

What can you expect from Platforms for All?Platforms for All

  • Multi-use venues and facilities for rail users and the wider community
  • We want stations that are not only used, but enjoyed. Working in partnership with local organisations and social enterprises we believe we can provide needed services and opportunities for development.
  • Volunteering and pride in the local community

There will be a specific focus on creating opportunities for all. Activities will be free so they will be accessible to the whole community, confronting social deprivation and social exclusion.

We need your help this Christmas. As the winter season approaches and the days get darker, these colder months can really put a strain on people's mental health. For some, celebrating may just feel like one extra thing to juggle, as routines often change and the pace of life can suddenly feel a bit more rushed.

We all feel changes over the festive period in some way, but for some people, their mental health can really suffer because of this. We rely on generous donations from people like you to continue to support everyone who needs it, for now and for in the future.

There are loads of ways to do this. You can donate online or you can do this from your phone by simply texting TOGX01 £2 to 70070.
