Day 1 - December 25thOn the 1st Day of Christmas the gift we give to thee; a mindfulness activity…

In the busy world we live in, the mind is constantly pulled to and fro, scattering thoughts and emotions, often leaving you feeling stressed, highly strung and at times, quite anxious.

It is essential for our wellbeing that we take a few minutes each day to take a step back and achieve a positive mind-body balance.

For busy bees, we have a simple mindful activity that you can incorporate in your day to day life:

  • Think of something that happens every day, more than once. Something that you might not even notice you doing as it’s so automatic. Like opening a door, making your cup of tea or logging on to your computer.
  • When you go to open the door handle, stop for a moment to be mindful of where you are, how you are feeling and what lies in the next room. Similarly, when sitting at your computer desk in the morning, take a moment to appreciate the movement that enables this process to start.
  • From these small movements that you make each day, or for the automatic thoughts, you can choose your cue. Your reach for the door handle or the clink of the spoon as you stir the milk in your cup. As you go about your day, use this cue to take time to stop and be aware of yourself. These small actions can help to make you more aware of how you are feeling and subsequently deal with your emotions in a calmer way.
