3rd January - Day 10On the 10th Day of Christmas the gift we give to thee, skills in Employability!

We offer several kinds of help with finding employment, here are 10 tips for job hunting:

  1. Make your CV simple – Make it easy for HR to match your skills to what they’re looking for.

  2. Make your CV match the job description – Does your CV mirror the words and phrases in the job description? Can HR easily see how your skills match the job role?

  3. Don’t limit yourself to online applications during your job search.

  4. Don’t be afraid to swap and change your CV to match different job roles.

  5. Take part in free courses and workshops to improve your skills.

  6. Do a skills audit – see if there are any areas you need to improve on whilst job searching.

  7. Learn basic Microsoft office skills – learn how to use Word, create spreadsheets and make PowerPoint presentations.

  8. Ask for feedback if you don’t get the job to see where you can improve for next time.

  9. Sign up for job alerts – utilise this feature of job search sites and hear about jobs as soon as they are posted.

  10. Volunteer – enhance your CV with practical experience in your chosen field.
