Scientists say that to make our mood better, we need loads of different vitamins and minerals. One of these vitamins is the vitamin D. The amazing thing about this vitamin is that it can actually improve your mood and how you feel! Sunlight contains vitamin D and scientists have said going out in the sun for even 30 minutes a day can make us feel better. On a sunny day, try to go out and enjoy the sunshine! You might be surprised with how you feel afterwards. (And if it’s not sunny, try to eat some foods which contain Vitamin D like egg yolks and fish – it’ll hopefully do the trick!)

Why don’t you join a local sports group? Or maybe you already go to one! A healthy body can help towards a healthy mind! The brain is very clever. When you exercise it releases chemicals that can help put you in a good mood. Why not try it? If you don’t want to join a group, even a small walk should do the trick!

Some people find their problems are much worse if they keep them to themselves. Talking to family, friends, teachers, or even pets can help you to understand the problem better and it might even help you to see the problem in a different way. If you don’t feel you can find the words to explain how you’re feeling, you could always draw it in a picture.

You may prefer to speak to someone you don’t know. Take a look at the different drop-ins we offer in our different areas if you would like to come along to speak to one of our workers!

Having enough sleep can help you feel ready to tackle the day in front of you. Have a think of all the activities you do every day -  From going to school and learning all kinds of new things to joining in with your favourite sports - every day is a busy day! This is why sleep is so important! Scientists believe you should be having around 10 hours of sleep a night to help your brain store information, and solve problems.  It will also help you to refill your energy levels so you wake in the morning ready to tackle another day!

Eating well isn’t just good for your body, it’s also good for your mind! Your body needs so many different minerals and vitamins just to stay healthy. Eating the right foods and drinking enough water every day can be great for your mind and how you feel about yourself. Scientists have found that if we don’t eat enough of the B12 vitamin then it can actually make us unhappy! Eggs, Cheese, Milk and Beef all contain the vitamin B12!
