Problem SolvingOur Problem Solving service is for young people who need help to deal with a particular problem or issue in their life.


The Problem Solving service focuses on agreeing goals and actions to be able to overcome or solve a particular problem or issue.


The worker will help you to understand what your strengths are and will support you to try out different ways to deal with a problem that is concerning you or having a negative impact on your life.


To be able to attend our Problem Solving service you will need to speak to someone at a Drop-in or Sort-it session first.

When and where?

Problem Solving Service appointments are available at #Thrive on Monday-Saturday between 10am - 5pm, this service can be accessed free of charge.


To come to #Thrive you need to live or go to school in Heywood, Middleton or Rochdale.

What will happen?

You will have a 50 minute appointment on the same day and time each week, for 6-8 weeks, with the same worker.


They will help you to find out what problem you would like address and will help you to decide on different actions you can take to try and resolve or deal with the problem. This will include looking at your strengths, planning & agreeing goals and looking into any barriers you may have to making positive changes in your life.

Who should I bring with me?

For anyone 13 years old or above you are able to access Problem Solving Service without parent or carer permission, however please be aware should we feel that you or another person may be in danger we would need to discuss this with either your parent or carer, or another agency.


We may also ask you to complete a ‘Getting Home Safe’ form at your first sessions so we know you are safe when you leave us.

Who do I contact?

At your Drop-in or Sort-it session, you will be able to speak to your worker about the Problem Solving Service. If you both agree it may be useful for you they will pass your details on to a member of staff who will contact you to arrange your first appointment.
