Our core induction training is aimed at developing our volunteers and staff to be able to work with clients or participants.
The training covers core concepts of working with individuals and groups such as confidentiality, boundaries, judgements, communication skills, conflicts of interest and whistleblowing. All staff and volunteers are required to attend this training in order to ensure they are prepared to support our charity.
Please note: our funded core training is only available for staff and volunteers who have successfully completed our application process.
The training runs across either 3 days or 1 day depending on your role as a volunteer, and is a mixture of class discussions, pair work, small group work, role play, quizzes, ice breakers, and guided PowerPoint learning.
Volunteers are given scenarios and case studies to discuss and safeguarding is brought to life with serious case reviews from the areas we work in.
The training is an opportunity to learn about the history of TOG Mind, and about the services and projects that we offer. Included in the training is the Human Resources induction where all relevant policies and procedures are discussed and DBS applications are completed.
Our Internal training is a programme of training sessions and workshops that are delivered by qualified staff internally or by qualified external trainers.
All our staff and volunteers are encouraged to take up internal training to upskill and further their knowledge and awareness on a wide range of subjects. We have excellent links with local organisations who welcome the chance to come into the organisation to deliver specialist training workshops. We also strive to cover subjects that are relevant to the current climate such as CSE.

The core training gives volunteers the opportunity to meet other volunteers and share their journey. We encourage all volunteers to engage and enjoy the training as well as to have fun. Once you have completed the application stage you will be invited to attend the next upcoming training session by our friendly HR team.
