Journey to Employment is a 12 week course funded by the Department for Work and Pensions and is aimed at supporting people in Tameside with long term health conditions or disabilities to gain additional skills and confidence for employment.

 

Referrals will be made via the Tameside job centres for people who are on relevant benefits.

 

It also includes the running of a weekly employment hub which started in early October 2017.

What does the job club course cover?

The course will be once a week for 2 ½ hours and will be interactive.

These modules will be arranged in an order to suit the needs of the group, but all 12 key themes will be covered.

What will I gain from this course?

The aim of the course is to provide both job-related skills and information, as well as increasing the confidence of participants to be in a better place to access jobs and voluntary opportunities.

Ongoing one to one support will be available each week through the employment hub.

You will get access to other TOG Mind services such as counselling or the Together project is also available to participants.

How do I book onto the course?

If you are currently unemployed and interested in this course, please contact your work coach at your local Tameside job centre to check your eligibility.

 

Eligible benefits are: ESA WRAG or UC LCW (Work Preparation Group).

How do I access employment hub support?

The employment hub will be based at the coffee lounge at our Topaz café on Katherine Street in Ashton-under-Lyne. This will run once a week on a Thursday, 10 - 12 and 2 - 4 from October 2017. It will be a drop in session, however you will need to be referred into the employment hub by your job centre work coach.

 

Support will be available from staff on job related skills. This includes interview practice, CV writing, and job applications. It will also be a place to catch up with other people looking for work in an informal setting.
