Help volunteer with Young People across Tameside, Oldham, Glossop, and Rochdale.Volunteer with Children

The Youth in Mind teams deliver wellbeing activities in schools, community settings and within our designated children and young people’s hubs, Around the Corner and The Hive.

Children and Young People between the ages of 8 - 18 can attend a drop in session where they are signposted to appropriate support. We also offer one to one support pathways and interactive group workshops.

  • In addition the teams offer mental health awareness sessions to school staff and parents too.

If being a volunteer with children, young people and their families is of interest to you then we would love to hear from you!

  4. Full remuneration for any travel expenses incurred

  5. Experience of working in a wellbeing organisation

  6. Full references for any future job or volunteer role

  7. Hot and cold beverages and biscuits throughout your time with us

Training and Advancement

Volunteers are a central part of our organisation which means where and when we can invest in volunteers, we do so.

All volunteers attend core training and have access to our internal training.

Recently we have placed a few volunteers on our Community Mental Health Course Level 2, and before that we supported a group of volunteers to become trained Mindfulness Practitioners. Though we can’t routinely offer this training to our volunteers, this is something we strive to do as an organisation.

Over 50% of our staff started off working for Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind as a volunteer, where possible we aim to recruit from our volunteer pool. Any sessional work or paid roles are usually advertised interally first giving our volunteers an opportunity to apply for a paid role.
